As the use of barcodes increases, so does the demand for barcode printers, and newer types of printers with better performance and capabilities and higher efficiency levels are being manufactured. Handheld barcode printers are the latest and most preferred ones.

In many large businesses where printing needs necessitate the purchase of multiple printers, many would wonder why the same printers cannot print barcodes as well, instead of buying specialized printers. Barcode printers become a necessity when the benefits they offer are seen to make sense in terms of quality of printing, efficiency and saving of time, ink and effort. The following are a few of the advantages of barcode printers: • Being specialized barcode printers, they do a much better job of printing barcodes than any conventional printer with a barcode printing capability.
• A non-barcode printer or a normal printer that has the capability of printing barcodes will waste a lot more ink in printing a barcode than a barcode printer which uses the minimum amount of ink to print crystal clear barcodes.
• Barcode printers are cost effective and justify the expense incurred in purchasing them in the long run.
• Handheld barcode printers have made the barcode printing jobs even more easy and convenient since barcodes no longer need to be printed in batches, or have every product carried to the stationary printer. They also can be carried from one office to another and this reduces the need to invest in multiple printers.

Barcode printers use the latest technology and constant innovations enable the launch of eve better printers.

These days, catchphrases like mobility, cordless, transportability and RFID have become widely used. All of these are now used to describe an attention-grabbing innovative printer – the RP4T The innovative RP4T is without equal in two ways. There is no other portable printer that uses the thermal transfer printing method – a unique feature that allows it to be a great alternative for printing tags on assets and for additional functions that require something more dependable than direct thermal tags.

On top of that, there is no other portable RFID printer available on the market other than the RP4T.

The people from Zebra were quite considerate in allowing us to have a look at one of these devices for some time. After the printer was delivered, I hung it over my shoulder using the carrying strap included in the package – making it resemble an elegant messenger bag; it could possibly turn into the newest in-thing for the chic labeling dude.

The tags and the small thermal ribbon cartridge can be effortlessly loaded due to the printer’s design. The slider component that is used in concealing the position of the ribbon was ingenious; this makes me speculate on how efficiently it will slide after it goes through the hands of those huge hardy warehouse dudes.

The enclosed battery charger was the most unusual part of the printer. Instead of connecting the adaptor into the DC input on one section of the printer, the batter needs to be detached from the printer and connected to the charger using a connector found on the battery. This indicates that the printer cannot be tested using AC power while sitting on my table, something that I would rather do.

Since this particular unit was issued from the presentation pool of Zebra, I am not entirely certain if this is the typical package. I would like to assume that the printer would have a more standard charging setup if I were to buy a brand-new printer.

I can foresee that this latest model will be an impressive addition to our collection of printing labeling solutions. We were able to sell a couple of thermal transfer printers, though none of them were RFID, for asset monitoring functions and we will introduce the RFID capability of the RP4T during the DoD Labeling Seminar in a month’s time. Even as I am eagerly anticipating a Zebra application for the iPhone, we intend to have a look at the latest launch of Zebra showing their capability of printing from a Blackberry smartphone.

When I get to have some time, I will work out a comparative test between the RP4T and the demo PB50 mobile printer unit from Intermec – an interesting idea.

Up until this point, the RP4T has made an impression on me. No other device in such a small size has that amount of applications. As a matter of fact, the label at the rear that say Made in China is the only thing I do not like about the device.

What are your thoughts dudes? Are you aware of any requirements for the distinctive functionalities of this printer? How will this provide the necessary solutions to your needs?

It could be a cumbersome and daunting task to track products. The usual marking tools available in the market cannot always ensure prominence of the product name even after a long time of its manufacturing. Direct Part Marking, better known as DPM offers a marking solution that ensures prominence of the product name after being long worn out and that too in tough situations.

A number of business advantages are associated with DPM namely:

· The assurance to be able to locate the product from the manufacturing to the end of the product life.

· Development in the production process

· Detection of quality-related faults at the production stage

· Remove the need of labour-intensive data entry that often involves a lot of human slip-ups

· Provide support to Data Logging and Automatic Data Collection

· Cutting the by and large production cost

In the beginning, the code needs to be marked. Marking styles vary from one product to another, its longevity, the convenience of the exact location of the marking, speed of manufacturing and quantity of the products being manufactured. The widely used marking techniques include: Dot-peening, Laser-etching, Ink-jetting, and Chemical-etching.

We have a range of DPM Scanners . Do Contact Us to know what is the best option for your business.

Dot Peening

Dot peening is done by pneumatically or electromechanically striking a carbide or a diamond-tipped stylus against the product being marked.

Advantages : Primary cost is low, permanent marking.

Disadvantages : slow, contact/impact marking

Laser Etching :

Laser etching is done by applying heat to the surface of the part to melt, vaporise or change in some way to produce a mark.

Advantages : High-quality, permanent, non-contact mark.

Disadvantages : Primary cost is high.

Ink Jet Printers :

Ink Jet printers precisely propel drops of ink onto the surface of the part. After that, the fluid evaporates and leaves a colored die that creates the pattern of modules that make up the mark.

Advantages : High-speed, low primary cost, non-contact.

Disadvantages : Consumable costs, less permanent.

Electro Chemical Etching :

Electro Chemical Etching is done by oxidizing metal from the surface being marked through a stencil impression.

Advantages : Primary cost is low, not surface-changing.

Disadvantages : slow, consumable costs.

Verification

To ascertain the code quality, a verification is immensely essential at the time of marking the product. By verifying the product, you can get an instant picture about the current state of the marking and learn whether any more marking is required. For instance, while dot-peening, the verifier can check the tip wear on the dot peen machine and let his co-worker know about the status.

When the marking is being done, or when the production process is going on and during the entire life-span of the product, the marking needs to be read by a handheld device connected to a host computer or a wireless Bluetooth device.

The information is collected with a mobile computing device that has a built-in reader and then the information flows back through wires and reaches the host. The standing-on-its-own types of readers are basically for auto-transfer or presentation-sort of reader is used where the user cannot use his hands to operate the device.

The latest Touch monitors offer style and User friendly features in difficult surroundings such as Point-of-Sale, Point-of-Information, Interactive Digital Signage, and Kiosk Information Systems.

Elo TouchSystems, a product of Tyco Electronics incorporates state-of-the-art quality LCD panels with the industry’s prime touch mechanics to come up with the most up to date wide-aspect touch monitors.

These fifteen and nineteen inch monitors are perfectly modified for use in public areas such as the retail, hospitality, or light industrial industries. Both sizes are constructed to tolerate the extreme public surroundings where they are often used extensively. Monitors like those of personal computers, which are not constructed for these rugged environments, will not likely have a long life in various environments.

Both of these monitors can be found to utilize the three top industry technologies:

1. Zero-bezel APR ― the display senses touch after a specific sound is recognized. Some of the advantages are – the sturdiness of pure life, functions with any loading tool and are dust, water and grease proof.

2. Standard-bezel IntelliTouch surface acoustic wave – To assure exceptional clarity, pure-glass touch screens are used. They have a sturdy, scratch-proof glass exterior; provide a durable, no stray calibration execution and has the ability to be started with any soft object that utilizes a smooth soft surface.

3. Zero-bezel AccuTouch 5-wire resistive – provides durable, drift-free functioning. The load range is large, is contamination-proof and has a exactness for high-volume operations.

The wide-screen design on both of these touch monitors provided a larger area to exhibit your application and also has the ability to be utilized in portrait form as reported by James Witkowski, Product Manager of Elo. “Zero-bezel touch monitors are as pragmatic as well as good looking. The ease of cleaning the surface and they being water, dust and grease proof makes them very practical for utilization in public places.”
